A stereo outboard compressor with presets
November 22nd, 2006 by Derek
On IHR #28 Paul talked about the one outboard compressor he knew about that included presets, the PreSonus COMP16. I just found another.
The Alto Alpha Comp doesn’t have the groovy PreSonus blue faceplate, VU meter, and XLR connectors, but it is stereo instead of mono (though you can’t control the channels independently). Like the PreSonus model, it offers a bunch of presets. And it’s cheap, only $65 USD through Sweetwater Sound in the U.S., and likely less than $100 Cdn from Long and McQuade (which is where I spotted it) and other Yorkville distributors in Canada.
It’s not yet available through any of our affiliate programs with zZounds or Amazon, but the PreSonus model is.
