Updating the Doctor Who theme in the 1980s

Last July I posted about how the original Doctor Who TV show theme was created in 1963 without a single musical instrument. Here’s a neat video on how the BBC re-did the theme in 1980.
You’ll spot several of the synthesizers that appear in Sonic State’s Top 20 Synths of All Time feature, including the Yahama CS80 and ARP Odyssey. While the remake is cool, I still prefer the 1960s original for sheer sonic wackiness. Here’s a video with snippets of several different versions, including a remarkably sucky orchestral (!) arrangement.
