QuickTime update may also cause problems
November 7th, 2007 by Derek
Speaking of software updates breaking things, we’ve also just heard that ProfCast, the Mac application we mentioned on our last show to convert Keynote presentations into enhanced podcasts, has trouble with Apple’s new QuickTime 7.3 update released this week. ProfCast’s developers emailed users with this warning:
Apple has made some fundamental changes to QuickTime and to the underlying CoreAudio technologies in this new release of QuickTime (these changes are also evident in Leopard).
If you have not upgraded to QuickTime 7.3, please wait to do so. We are working on providing a resolution to these fun new updates as quickly as we can!
As Paul and I advised last show, it’s worth waiting until you can confirm particular devices and software work with major (or even minor) software updates before making the move yourself on any production machines.
