    Hi Dave & Derek,

Regarding the “Podcast Awards”, yours is the only podcast of any listed (in all categories) that I have ever listened to (and I do listen to a lot of different podcasts). I can’t imagine anyone on the planet who could realistically say that they regularly listen to ALL podcasts in any one category to be able to make an informed vote.

So surely these awards must be largely based on who can direct the most traffic to the vote page? Not really indicative of who is the “best” in any category, but instead is just marketing linkbait.

I love your podcast, and in my view you’re already winners in my very own “Music and Home Recording” category!

P.S. I did try to vote for you till I realised they wanted my email address for spam purposes.

    Hi Guys,
Not the best news to hear but I’m glad you aren’t letting it stop you from doing the podcast and stop your humour.
I have been listening to this podcasts in all it’s forms from the begining and it is one of my favorite recording podcasts, the production is great the sound quality is one of the best and the content is entertaining and informative.
It would be a great loss to the home recording podcast world if it was to stop.
For what it’s worth one vote from me to keep going. I will keep downloading and listening.
I look forward to the next post.
have a great xmas and new year ect.
Derek I feel like I want to say something about your situation but I can offer nothing you haven’t heard before nor thought yourself so I give you my silence.
    Cheers
    M

Marty, as far as I know the Podcast Awards folks have never used email addresses to create a spam database, nor do they even keep them other than to prevent duplicates, as far as I know. The awards are run by Todd Cochrane, the same guy who put together the Blubrry network we’re part of, and who hosts the long-running Geek News Central podcast. I’ve known him personally for a long time, and he has integrity. I’d be comfortable putting in my email address (and I have!).

That said, you’re quite right that it’s basically a venue for people to channel in nominations and votes, just as we have. That’s what makes it People’s Choice, I guess. But if we win, we can add “award-winning” to our profile of the show!

    Hi Derek and Dave,

I’d like to echo the sentiment, above, that your podcast is terrific. I am an ipod homerecordist, some analogue to the armchair traveler, and have been interested in the practice of music production for a good long time. You two and Paul have provided a consistently engaging commentary from this emerging world. It’s been great to have your companionship and insights on long walks through the park to work, and grinding along in New York City busses and trains. Derek you’ll be missed by lots of people you don’t even know — not least of all by me. Big ups!

  5. Hi guys,

Still catching up the podcast so unfortunately I missed out on voting for the show dammit!

I just wanted to send my best wishes to you Derek and thank you for continuing with the podcast which is one of my favourites. I really don’t know what to say to be honest except that I hope there will be many many more episodes. At least you have a great legacy left behind that has enriched the lives of many including myself.
